Inspiration!!

Dear Friends,

For some odd reason I'm finding it hard to post some thing that I'm inspired by. I know that there is a lot of HOT stuff out there but I guess it's just one of those days. I'll go for a jog and hopefully I'll be back in my "trendsettingyou" state of mind.

Ciao,
Cx

Christopher Kane - London Fashion Week, Fall 2010

He revealed that the heels on his Fall ‘10 runway (see photo) are the first styles in a new collaborative range with Giuseppe Zanotti (LOVE Zanotti).

Girls Who Wear Pants!!!

...This is your season!!! While a few designers continued to play with skinnies—Proenza guys and your new friend J Brand, we’re looking your way—several designers played with a slightly looser silhouette, cutting pants that fit around the legs but stay straight below the knee. No doubt the skintight look is sticking around, but the more ladylike, professional style of the trousers at (left to right) Derek Lam, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Prabal Gurung are great for day—if not, in every case, for the office. Alexander Wang’s cutout-accented pair isn’t recommended for the boardroom. But I would recommend them for just about everywhere else.
Personally I'm very happy of the idea of the "looser" pants, they just seams to fit a lot better then the skinnies unless you have a figure you totally want to show off.

Marilyn Monroe - The very defenition of the blond bombshell!

Did Scarlett Johansson do some thing similar for the new Dolce&Gabbana Perfume Ad?!
Yes she did indeed, yet and other proof that Marilyn Monroe never really died in the popular imagination, look also at current superstars Madonna and Gwen Stefani. A beauty icon that will stay alive forever and will always have an impact in the fashion industry. (In photo: Bed head, Marilyn nude in bed, 1962).

Veruschka for Vogue - Beauty Icon

Born Vera von Lehndorff, Veruschka arrived in New York in the early sixties, looking to escape a traumatic childhood in Nazi Germany. After a slightly rocky start in the modeling game, the Vogue covers (11, to be exact) came rolling in. As the decade ripened, her Amazonian Barbie looks were a welcome counterpoint to wide-eyed cutie pies like Twiggy. Her dramatic flair is still a go-to reference for designers from Tom Ford to Michael Kors. (In the photo: Vogue 1964, just amazing)

Jerry Hall - Beauty Icon

As I mentioned in my previous post (Christian Dior - Make up Spring 2010), the Femme Fatal is back just a little "modernized". Here is one of THE original ones!!
Karl Lagerfeld photographed Jerry Hall for the Chanel Spring accessories lookbook. The designer, explaining his choice, quoted Oscar Wilde: "I like men who have a future, and women who have a past." Got to love it!!

Christian Dior - Make Up Spring 2010

It looks like it's all about the Femme Fatal (Loving it)!!!! The Key to this look?! Seductive eyes and a vampy pout.... First, McGrath blended pastel eye shadow—violet, aqua, tangerine, or taupe—from the lash line to just above the crease. Next, she used CoverGirl LineExact Liquid Liner in Very Black to draw a thin line along the top lashes. Then, lashes were curled, enhanced with a few faux hairs at the outer corners, and brushed with CoverGirl LashBlast Length Mascara in Very Black. A light brow pencil (try Dior Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil in Universal Brown) and matte crimson lips (try Dior Rouge Dior Replenishing Lipcolor in Celebrity Red, love it!!) finished the look.

Elie Tahari - Fall RTW 2010

"My inspiration was a woman traveling the world in style," Elie Tahari said today, "like Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express." (style.com).
Elie Tahari has built a sizable global brand with his polished, just-trendy-enough separates that work equally well in Colorado or Rome.
We can see a lot of black wool military coat, high-waisted trousers, and an elegant pantsuit with a belted safari jacket. For days off, he did a few fur jackets (a trend we'll see a lot), silk peg-leg pants, and chunky cardigans.
Very easy to wear yet looking sharp, excellent for working, trendy ladies. (Scroll down for more photos)

ALEXANDER McQUEEN - 1969-2010

Iconoclastic fashion designer dies at 40. One of the most brilliant minds in fashion and art. His imagination went beyond limits, his work is unique, his vision outrageously genius. He will be truly missed. He may rest in peace.

Christian Dior by John Galliano - Couture Spring 2010

"I was reading that, actually, it was Charles James who influenced Monsieur Dior to come up with the New Look," John Galliano said. "And then I was looking at a photo of Charles James doing a fitting—and on the wall behind him was a picture of women riding sidesaddle. And that was it!" (from; style.com)
That Eureka moment gave Galliano the imaginative license to relate nip-waisted Dior jackets with full riding skirts to frothy "Naughty Nineties" pastel cocktail dresses and end with a sustained tour de force of satin whipped into ball gowns of an opulence.
From Pat McGrath's porcelain-perfect makeup and matte red lips, to Stephen Jones' giant snoods, veils, and hats, right through to Michael Howells' backdrop of 3,000 overblown pastel roses, it made for an unforgettable coming together of live atmosphere, detail, and voluptuous visual pleasure. Just genius!! (sroll down for more photos of the collection)

Chanel - Spring 2010 Couture

Silver and pastel," HE The Genius said. "It's the first time in my whole career I've done a collection without black or navy.
From the heart-shaped cartoonish hair to the wild-heeled silver booties, the show was a mix of romanticism, space age, and incredible eye-tricking handwork.
In some places, the embroideries looked like smashed, broken glass or melted metal; in others, jewelry itself became part of the structure: A halter dress was suspended from a crystal choker, and a shoulder strap became almost indistinguishable from a diamond necklace.
How to define it, though? Someone backstage suggested futurism. "I hate that," Lagerfeld shot back. "I don't believe in avant-garde clothes for a future that will never happen. Fashion is always now." from style.com .
I love every single piece of art work he has created in this collection... (for more photos scroll down).
